Valentine’s day and colder months definitely cry out for a romantic date. But it’s needless to have special events to make cozy time with your special person.
Courting your sweetheart is the elixir to keep your marriage powered as well as to connect and liven up from the daily grind.
Kids, tight budgets, overwork, and fatigue could be detrimental to a marriage. These are some usual excuses to sidestep small delights and take your partner for granted.
You think the kids are too young to leave with someone, cannot afford a classy date at the moment, are drained after a long day, or have no time except the weekends that you want to spend quietly at home.
It doesn’t have to be like this, though. You can make the situation better.
You might still do without spending money but to cultivate a happy marriage you must invest in time, energy, thoughts, and efforts.
There are several ways to have a fun date with your partner, without paying a fortune, other than the dull dinner and movie nights.
14 Cheap And Fun Date Ideas
At-Home Date Ideas
1. Romantic song list: Create a collective playlist of your favorite songs. Play it in the background as you tenderly converse, have dinner, or look through your old photo albums.
3. Play board games: We have a play date once a few days. We love ludo, carrom board, snakes, and ladders. You can play snooker, chess, or do a puzzle together. It’s a wonderful way to relive childhood memories with your beloved.
4. Do up: It barely costs anything to put up the fairy lights, flowers, balloons, and ribbons; light some candles; pull out your special dinner plates, and bed covers. Buying once (one-off payment) can no longer be used.
5. Bubble bath: Set up your bathtub with warm water; toss in some essential oils, rose petals, and decor items; light some aromatic candles, or turn on your electric diffuser and get cozy.
6. Floor picnic: Lay a comforter/quilt on the floor. Bring your blanket to the living room. Pull some throw pillows. Bring out food and drinks. A bed tray foldable table does great for the floor picnic. Drape the same with a fine fabric. Put your favorite movie/show and there you go.
7. Binge-watch favorite movies: Love to catch up on the latest movie together? Or maybe one you had watched together when you were dating; a favorite actor/actress movie? My husband and I love to watch movies from the time we grew up. I really wished to watch a lot of my favorite movies with him. We watch them now and enjoy them twice as much.

8. Cook date/chore date: I know, many of you are familiar with sharing a cooking experience but a chore date?! Order a take-out and try getting a little cleaning done. Try for once and you’ll be amazed at the quality of time you spend together and omg the results will be so much worth it!
Don’t make it extreme for the first time though. Just go for a bit of decluttering and organizing your personal belongings and that should do it.
9. Art date: If you both love some art form.. give it a try for fun. Painting, crafting, playing music, taking pictures; acting, and filming videos. Primarily, get creative together.
Outdoor Date Ideas
10. Brunch date: Heading out for a walk (in the neighborhood) under the dawning sky feels amazing. And how about if coupled with a brunch? Ride in nature, spend some time in the woods, have a long talk, hold hands, enjoy the quiet moments, get some sun, and hit the breakfast nook on your way back home.
11. Grocery Store date: Many of you may be startled to know but… the grocery store is my wonderland! It is! And surprisingly, my husband knows it 😉. So, on a serious note — I grocery shop only ONCE a month. Yes, I do that intentionally to avoid overspending.
But when I do, I take a leave from my housework. So we have food delivered to us and I enjoy a relaxing day with hubby. I like to apply some good face masks, paint my nails, dress up, and head out.
First, we get the groceries — drop them in the car, watch a movie, stop at the drive-thru, and head back home.
12. Explore your hometown or neighborhood: My husband and I were born and raised across the same town. Still, there are many unseen places that we love to explore closely. We also love to revisit our childhood places — the parks, the beaches, the restaurants, the confectionery stores, and the bazaars.
13. Farm date/visit: The farm is again my happy place. If you’re anything like us you can spend any amount of time on the farms — getting to know each fruit, veggie, flower plant; animal; the natural milking method is a blessing.
14. Library date: If you’re fortunate enough to have a bookworm partner, look no further than a library date. Firstly, the library is a whole different world; full of life and a great escape from the boring human race and real-life scenarios. Find a good library cafe near you and arrange an afternoon luxuriating with your precious.
15. Historical place visit: My husband and I love to explore historical places. I adore caves and artwork. I get so much absorbed in the carvings or sculptures and try to learn what they signify. We thoroughly enjoy going to historical places.
Those were my cheap and fun date ideas. A little varied from the luxurious and fancy dates yet truly engaging.
