How To Get Cleaning Done On Autopilot

I always look for ways to get the cleaning done on autopilot. Today, I’m glad to tell you that after years of trial and error, I finally discovered some effective techniques.

In all sincerity, I’m inclined to clean a little bit every day rather than deep cleaning once in a blue moon.

I’m always hunting for tips and tricks to help me keep my house clean without even knowing.

When I first tried this cleaning method, my house-cleaning was done on Autopilot.

I ensured that I stick to this cleaning method. And as the months went my house looked and felt clean without much effort and thought.

Also, the need for deep cleaning has been banished.

Firstly, what does getting cleaning done on autopilot mean?

You accomplish things on autopilot when you do them without even thinking.

Automaticity occurs when a certain action is overpracticed or overfamiliarized.

There are so many things we do on Autopilot every single day. Example: taking a shower, making coffee, checking your phone notifications, etc

We don’t need to plan or think before doing the foregoing things, right?

That is because you are experienced in doing these things. Since you’re at ease in doing them, you don’t have to think about them, and they get done on autopilot.

Similarly, to get cleaning done on autopilot, you need to be seasoned in it. This is possible when you grow used to or get into the habit of cleaning.

The easiest way to practice cleaning is by following good systems or routines.

    DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

Our home appears fresh and beautiful, besides safe when it is clean.

Daily cleaning prevents the chance of disease and brings a bright outlook to our lives.

Yet you don’t have to dust, scrub, wipe, or shine everything every day in your home to keep it clean.

You just have to focus on a few things daily.

    Wash dishes

If you own a dishwasher, make sure to load/unload it daily.

In the case of hand dishwashing, quickly get them done.

    Laundry

Do at least one load of laundry every day

    Tidy Up

    This includes bed-making.

    straightening out the couches.

Putting toys, belongings, mail, and stuff back in their places.

    Remove trash.

    Straighten things up.

    Sweep

Last but not least, put in just 2 or 5 minutes to sweep/vacuum the busy areas.

    WEEKLY CLEANING CHECKLIST

Along with your daily cleaning routine, spending 10 extra minutes is all you have to do to maintain a clean home.

    Tuesday

    Wednesday

    • Vacuum/Mop

    Thursday

    • Wipe mirrors, windows, and doors

    Friday

    • Declutter/rearrange (trouble spots)

    Saturday

    • Empty all garbage bins

    Final Words

These basic cleaning tasks are powerful enough to keep your home in a better shape.

If you are someone who wants to have a clean home with minimal effort, this cleaning checklist would be a valuable assistance.

As long as you stick to it (which is the only way to accomplish it), I can assure you your home will get clean on autopilot.

  • 3 Tips To Get Messy House Back In Order

3 Tips To Get Messy House Back In Order

    Overwhelmed by the messy house?

Certainly, cluttered/messy surrounding is bound to stress, anxiety, and poor concentration. It makes you feel jammed.

That said, we all go through such situations. Our house can get really messy at times. Be it a long vacation, some celebration, having guests over, health issues, or simply because you procrastinated for several days/months.

No matter what it is, these simple tricks work. They are simple yet effective.

If you keep following these steps at least once every few days your house won’t get that bad.

3 TIPS TO GET MESSY HOUSE BACK IN ORDER

    1| Start teeny-tiny:

The very first step is to start small. Really really small.

Little baby steps are the key. Especially when decluttering, cleaning, and organizing your home.

Initially, designate a doable chunk of time — 10 or 15 minutes every day. Give yourself permission to perform average (good enough).

Remember, the state of your house has become like this for a while. So it will be wise to give it time to be restored in a sustainable way.

Even in the case of decluttering, stick to the basics in the beginning. For example, discard old clothes, expired products, broken items, etc.- Things that you don’t have to think twice about.

    2| Keep it simple:

    Finish in One swipe.

Example: If your dining table is covered in dust with all the stuff scattered. Just take a basket. Put all the stuff lying on the dining table into the basket. And give the table a quick wipe. If grease/spots are smeared on the table, spray some good cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe it. Remember wipe just once and move on. Allow yourself to work loosely without precision. It’ll keep getting better every time you wipe it. But for now, let’s not get into scrubbing/scraping and focusing on that single table. Let’s proceed to our next cleaning project.

If your ceiling fans/light fixtures or other stuff is covered in dust, then as well wipe it once. Don’t go over it again. Not even once during that particular session. You can clean it on the next cleaning schedule.

Remember to clean/wipe/dust only once per session.

    Reason?
Scrubbing/wiping/dusting the same thing repeatedly is really discouraging especially when you think of cleaning in the future.

    Embrace good enough results.

Another thing is to try putting things back in their place in

    3| Go through again:

Do it over every few days.

If you clean in this manner, things will start looking okayish in the first go.

The second time it will look good.

That way it’ll keep getting in shape and you won’t have to break your back in a single attempt.

That way cleaning won’t be daunting. In fact, next time you might feel motivated because:

    • You are just going to clean/declutter /organize for 10 or 15 minutes
    • cleaning has now become less laborious
    • Since you clean at regular intervals the workload is light.

In what order can you clean a messy house?

I usually begin in the living room. Then I set my bedroom and lastly, I go to my kitchen.

Those are my tried and true tricks to get my house back in order. Usually, I go through such situations only when I’m unwell.

  • DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

    DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

In all sincerity, this daily cleaning checklist has been working wonders for my home and I’m sure it’ll help you too.

With this less than 30-minute daily cleaning routine you can expect your home to function smoothly.

Bonus, if you finish this quick and easy daily cleaning routine in the early hours you’ll be all done for the day. Plus, you won’t fear welcoming a surprise guest.

All these years of homemaking I tried many systems and routines for my home. However, household routines cannot be the same for everyone.

I observed certain things and learned from my mistakes.

There were some teeny-tiny cleaning tasks that I used to miss out on, and I wonder why my home still doesn’t feel up to par.

Those tasks were so small that they never hit my to-do list (I never felt like mentioning them on my cleaning list).

And because I didn’t write them they got neglected and my house never felt good even after cleaning religiously.

Lately, when I started to put those tasks on my to-do list, it transformed everything.

    SIMPLE DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

    Wash dishes:

Dishwashing and wiping the countertops are crucial things. They eliminate odors, splatters, and pests, and prevent disease and ensure good sanitation.

Washing the dishes routinely keeps your kitchen and also utensils clean and free of bacteria. We’ve heard this several times yet we never succeed in keeping at it.

If you own a dishwasher then it’s pretty easy for you — unload and load the dishwasher. But even handwashing dishes isn’t that hard as long as you are disciplined.

With constant routine dishwashing becomes just a matter of minutes. You feel so much in control of things when your kitchen is in check.

    TIME: 5-10 minutes

READ: How To Keep Your Kitchen Clean In 10 Minutes Or Less

    Wipe down:

    Coffee and dining table.

I know that sounds minute but this small act makes a remarkable difference.

Dinner & coffee tables are heavily used areas in our home. Yet we often overlook cleaning them.

Both dinner and coffee tables serve more than just eating purposes. They usually end up being study and play areas for kids.

Having a basket beside each table to quickly gather things in one place makes wiping down easier.

A thorough wipe using a rag/microfibre cloth and all-purpose cleaner is all you gotta do.

Also, wipe the Kitchen countertop after washing dishes.

As I said it looks good when unlikely guests arrive. It shows that you are dutiful and care for your family and home.

    TIME: 1 minute each

    Pick up:

    living room and bedroom.

Usually, (most) homemakers begin their day by making beds, which is a perfect way to start the morning. But what about the living room, where your family spends their entire day?

When you come to your living room first thing in the morning take a moment to instantly fold blankets, fluff and straighten up the cushions, gather toys in one place (if any), and put things back in their place.

Once you make the bed, take another minute to straighten up the nightstand immediately, fold any clothes lying on the chair or take those coffee mugs (if any) with you as you head out.

With these teeny-tiny practices you’ll be set for the day.

    TIME: 2 MINUTES PER ROOM

    Quick dust:

This step is for homemakers living in dust-prone regions.

I find quick dusting helpful because when I clean it daily, it’s just a single swipe job.

You just sweep/brush; run duster or microfibre cloth once over the surfaces and things and you are all done.

Most of the time you don’t even need a cleaner/solvent.

But when you plan to dust on weekends it becomes a full-blown event.

    TIME: 2 MINUTE EACH ROOM

    Sweep floors:

Speedy sweeps across the busy places in your home make your home look so much nicer.

I prefer to sweep (and mop) in the morning post-pickup. This lets you start your mornings fresh and eliminates constant nagging (all day) that your house is a mess.

    TIME: 5 MINUTES

    Tackle laundry:

Although laundry isn’t necessarily a part of this cleaning routine, keeping on top of it can help control the overall functionality of your home.

No matter how well you keep your home if clothes are sitting around they will surely clutter up the space.

Just 2 steps of throwing load into the washer and putting away fresh clothes make a big difference.

    TIME: 5 MINUTES

    Swish and swipe bathroom:

Nobody likes to use a dirty bathroom. Not even kids. They notice grime too.

As I keep saying, you can maintain a guest-ready bathroom spending less than 5 minutes daily.

  • Quick Daily Cleaning Routine

    Quick Daily Cleaning Routine

Establishing a daily cleaning routine means getting into the habit of cleaning.

It means cultivating a mindset of living in a clean home.

An effective daily cleaning reduces chaos, eliminates day-to-day stress, and provides a healthy environment.

It ensures order and peace in your home.

Forming a daily cleaning habit is super easy.

It’s just like developing a new habit.

The more you practice the better you get.

    Repetition is the key.

Routines allow you to do that on autopilot.

With practice, you develop speed and get faster.

After a time, you won’t even notice that you accomplished so much in a flash.

Considering that you have a lot on your plate, we will try to keep the daily cleaning routine easily achievable.

Precisely, we will keep our daily cleaning routine short and quick.

That means not more than 3 tasks per day.

I want to clarify that we’re focusing on everyday cleaning only.

This is going to be your daily cleaning routine.

You can take it further and add your weekly/monthly tasks. (More on that soon in another post)

The idea is to get the most crucial tasks done for the day so your house runs smoothly.

A shorter routine means you feel motivated to keep at it.

Even the smallest tasks have a bigger impact. Following this routine, your home will feel like a better place. And everyone in your home can relax and operate effortlessly.

    QUICK DAILY CLEANING ROUTINE

    10-minute Kitchen Cleanup:

They say “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. I would say the same goes for other family members too.

But if you’re kitchen is a super mess it’s hard to cook even the basic meal.

A clean kitchen provides a healthy, hygienic, and safe environment for your family.

That said, kitchen clean-up always sounds like a dreadful task.

    Honestly, it isn’t.

Yes, even the busiest and messier area like the kitchen doesn’t need a lot of labor unless you do a little bit to keep it in a condition where you find it good enough to work.

I wrote this article where I talk about how to keep your kitchen clean in 10 minutes or less! in details.

I’m sure even beginners starting their journey toward having a clean and organized home would find it helpful.

    Simple things like

    • putting things away after use
    • loading/unloading the dishwasher
    • handwashing the dishes
    • quickly wiping down the stove, countertops, and appliances
    • sweep/spot mopping the floor
    • emptying trash

    make such a difference.

    One load of laundry:

To avoid mountains of laundry lying on a chair/couch/floor it’s better to tackle one load daily.

If laundry appears like a never-ending chore some sort of system becomes necessary.

My trusted way is doing one load (washing, drying, folding, putting away) each day. Some days maybe a couple more times.

But yes one load a day works for us (husband and I).

If you are a large family, tackling one load daily would help prevent chaos.

Since there are mixed views on this topic, if you hate laundry to be a part of your daily routine, you can find a system that works for you. And swap this chore for another non-negotiable cleaning task.

But if you haven’t tried it already. I highly recommend doing one load daily for some days to know the difference.

    10-minute Rooms set up:

Anyone can hardly relax in a cluttered space.

A messy home usually makes you overwhelmed. You encounter difficulties carrying out your day-to-day tasks.

You can struggle to do the simplest things like getting ready for the day, sending kids to school, or comforting your husband after a long day at work.

Most of us may not realize but dedicating a few minutes to set up rooms (main living areas) is such a simple but powerful way to (instantly) improve the condition of your home.

Tidying up a little bit can largely prevent sickness caused by dust, bacteria, and molds.

    The little things like

    • making beds
    • putting kids’ toys back in their baskets
    • putting dirty laundry in the hamper/hanging clothes
    • Restoring shoes back
    • Straightening up the key areas
    • wiping down surfaces
    • swishing and swiping the bathroom
    • Vacuuming busy areas
    • Dumping mails and magazines in a basket
    • spot mopping

can help bring back order to your home. You’ll sense control over your environment. Your home will appear neat and tidy.

    Final Words:

Now you know you can keep your home reasonably clean and tidy with little effort and spending a few moments (15-20 minutes) daily.

One thing for sure is that this short and quick daily cleaning routine will bring your home to a level where you have fewer occasions and tasks for deep cleaning.

I hope this simple and quick daily cleaning routine lowers your pressure and allows you to enjoy your home and life more.

  • 10 Tips To Keep Your Home CLEAN And ORGANIZED

10 Tips To Keep Your Home CLEAN And ORGANIZED

Overwhelmed by a messy, cluttered home? The secret to keeping your home clean & organized all the time is doing a little bit of cleaning and tidying up more often.

    Consistency is key.

Cleaning and organizing the house is not as scary as it seems.

What is dreadful is improperly performing the tasks. Since inaccurate methods can only make cleaning or tidying jobs — lengthy, laborious, difficult, and time-consuming.

For me, cleaning is fun when it is short and sweet. Meaning, that it takes less time and minimal effort.

I love dusting when everything gets clean in just one swipe; washing a few dishes; doing a small load of laundry; and mopping floors without special efforts to scrub dried-up spots and spills.

Because, then it’s easier to clean and takes little time.

How do you get to this point? By doing things regularly.

Today I’m sharing the top 10 habits that help me keep my home clean and organized (all the time).

These powerful habits have worked wonders for me. They have made cleaning and tidying the home a breeze.

I practice these tips and tricks daily so it never gets to the point when my home desperately needs cleaning or deep cleaning.

10 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR HOME CLEAN AND ORGANIZED ALL THE TIME

1| Declutter every now and then:

Whether you notice or not cluttered, unorganized spaces cause a lot of stress and anxiety.

Decluttering is a powerful habit that provides clarity.

Including the many health benefits decluttering is great for your mental health.

Decluttering from time to time essentially reduces chaos and frees up physical space.

It allows better organization and brings peace.

    Decluttering increases productivity.

Decluttering may seem daunting in the beginning or after a prolonged time. But when you get started, set attainable goals, and keep at it every so often it is rewarding.

Purging unnecessary items once or twice a month for 15-20 minutes is a good place to start.

2| Do one load of laundry:

Doing at least one load of laundry daily is a wise thing to do to prevent mountains of dirty washing.

If not more, washing daily wear, underwear, activewear, socks, towels, and dish towels can make a huge difference. It is not advisable to keep sweaty, stinky, stained clothes for a longer time.

It takes 5-10 minutes to sort clothes, wash, dry, fold, and put away but it makes a considerable difference.

    3| Make beds:

I love to straighten up my bed foremost every morning.

In India, we are taught this in childhood. So it’s a deeply ingrained habit.

Making bed first thing in the morning provides a sense of accomplishment. It sets you up in the right mindset.

It not only promotes cleanliness but also enhances mood and productivity.

    4| Tidy up entryway:

The entryway is the first impression of your place and so it shouldn’t be neglected.

This super simple task takes as little as 2 minutes but can make your home look neat and clean.

The simple action of getting rid of unwanted stuff, wiping down surfaces, having a good storage system, and setting up some rules for people in your family can make all the difference.

    5| 10-minute kitchen clean up:

Honestly, if you determine you can finish your daily kitchen clean-up in under 10 minutes.

    Yes, you heard it right.

Putting things away once you finish cooking, wiping spills and spots, wiping down surfaces and appliances, loading/unloading the dishwasher, and shining your sink can be done in a bit.

If you set the timer every night and move around quickly, you can get your kitchen back in order in minutes.

    6| Speed dust one area:

Dusting was a pain for me before I discovered how to speed dust.

With the right tools and methods, you can master speed dusting.

You just need appropriate cleaning tools and solutions (all-purpose cleaners).

If you want to speed dust you have to do it daily or on alternate days depending on the situation.

Check out my earlier article to learn the easiest way to speed dust your home.

    7| Vacuum key areas:

Vacuuming is important in maintaining a clean and inviting place.

With tons of germs, skin cells, hair, food particles, and dirt accumulating vacuuming high-traffic areas often becomes crucial from a health point of view. Neglecting this important cleaning step can cause a foul odor.

The rooms you tend to spend more time in — living room, bedroom, kitchen, and dining area should be vacuumed regularly.

Again if you’re doing it frequently it won’t take you more than 5 minutes.

    8| Tidy up the bathroom:

Bathroom cleaning is an annoying task for many of us.

Because of its moisture content, it is the complete spot for bacterial growth and is considered the dirtiest place.

Since deep cleaning isn’t possible daily tidying up a little bit helps to keep it fresh, clean, and germ-free.

The chances of having molds and mildew (harmful to health) are higher when there is a longer gap between deep cleaning.

Daily swishing and swiping your bathroom ensures a lower risk of infections and sickness.

    9| Empty trash:

Garbage left for longer decomposes and causes harm. It is a breeding ground for bacteria.

A 1-2 minute task of emptying the trash regularly is essential to keeping a clean and healthy environment.

Doing this removes all the nasty odors in your home, prevents insects/pests, and keeps it smelling fresh.

    10| Neaten one trouble zone:

Zone cleaning for a few minutes a day can be life-saving.

It is important to keep your home clean and organized all the time.

Many trouble areas in our home need special attention.

When we cannot set up good storage solutions, certain areas in our homes get out of control. And over time they become a trouble zone.

Devoting just 5-10 minutes a day can help transform the place.

Set the timer for 5-10 minutes. Tackle one small area at a time or divide bigger tasks into little parts so that it’s easier for you.

    Final words:

With these simple steps, you can keep your home clean and organized all the time.

What I have learned through years of experience is that —  when you carry out the same tasks regularly, over and over again they become a breeze.

Because when you clean an already clean space you don’t need to clean it you just have to MAINTAIN it. Maintenance is always much easier than cleaning/deep cleaning.

    Focus on rhythm (regularity).

So to keep your home clean and organized (all the time) you must focus on repetition rather than heavy labor.

Even if you’re a beginner, I suggest following these tips and tricks. Don’t go all out. Start small. Begin with these steps and get your home in order first then tackle big projects.

Be sure to share your tips and tricks in the comments section below. Thank you so much for reading. Happy Cleaning!

  • 10-Minute Daily Tidy Up Routine

    10-Minute Daily Tidy Up Routine

The struggle to keep the house clean and tidy is real. Some days you comfortably get everything done and keep on top of things. Other times you may be occupied with other important work. And a few occasions, you may feel low or simply don’t want to do anything. Today I have a quick 10-minute tidy-up routine that’ll help you keep your home neat and clean all the time.

Whatever the reason, one thing is for sure keeping the house clean and tidy isn’t hard as we think. With this daily 10-minute tidy-up routine you’re never going to look back. No more cluttered and messy space; no more embarrassing unexpected visits; no more beating yourself up for leaving the house in a mess.

You can follow this 10-minute tidy-up routine to utilize your day effectively. And never feel unaccomplished even a single day with this daily 10-minute routine.

You can get this routine done at any time of the day. I prefer to finish it in the morning so my house stays clean and tidy all day. Also, we have friends coming in at any time of the day (yes without prior notice) so this teeny-tiny routine helps me be carefree in such situations.

Grab your all-purpose cleaner, microfibre cloth/cleaning rag, and a basket, and let’s get started.

DAILY 10-MINUTE HOME TIDY UP ROUTINE

    1| 3-minute Living room tidy-up:

So I begin with my living room for the obvious reason of getting it in order first.

I set the timer for 3 minutes and start with the coffee table, moving around and putting things back where they belong. To collect all the items from other rooms, I carry a basket/bag.

Next, I gather dirty clothes in one corner of my room.

Straighten up the cushions, throws, and things out of place.

This will make the next step easier — which is dusting.

I quickly dust the knick-knacks and wipe down the surfaces. No thorough cleaning here. Just quickly go through everything wiping it down with a cloth.

Quickly vacuum the rug and floor.

    And head to the bedroom.

    2| 2-minute bedroom tidy up:

I make my bed first thing in the morning so that’s one less thing to do.

In the same way as the living room, I set the timer for 2 minutes, and start clockwise restoring things in their designated place.

Other stuff goes into the basket and laundry gets collected at one end of the room.

Quickly wipe down the surfaces, bedsides, and dresser.

Vacuum the floor, grab the dirty laundry, and head to the laundry area.

    3| 5-minute kitchen tidy up:

Lastly, I again set the timer for 5 minutes. If there’s any clutter on the countertop I clear it. I quickly wash the dishes (if any). If you have a dishwasher you can load/unload it.

Then I quickly wipe down the stove, countertop, dining room table, and chairs.

Sweep/mop the floor and that’s it.

One thing I would like to suggest is to move faster. You can consider this as your 10-minute exercise routine. And you’ll be amazed at how much you get done in this short time.

Also if you have a few more minutes, tidy up the entryway. That way at least your main areas look neat and clean.

If you religiously follow this 10-minute tidy-up routine, your house will be clean and tidy for the most part. Following this routine daily cleaning is going to be a breeze. Later it’ll hardly take you 10 minutes to complete the routine.

Follow this quick routine for 1 week and let me know how it goes.

  • How To Clean A Messy House FASTER

How To Clean A Messy House FASTER

You have been overlooking house cleaning for quite a while, your house is a complete disaster, and you don’t know where to start?! No worries, I have some practical tips to help you clean your messy house faster.

Regardless of how messy your home is, this process will help restore order in your home in just an hour or two.

All you have to do is go over your home in 5 simple rounds.

Unlike our speed-clean your house in just 30 minutes technique (where we go room by room), we’re going to clean the entire house in rounds this time.

After the cleaning session, you will see significant changes in how your home looks, feels, and smells. Your house will be homey and comfortable.

    It’s going to be worthwhile.

    So, let’s begin.

HOW TO CLEAN A MESSY HOUSE FASTER

A little prep work before we get into cleaning:

    • Get dressed in shoes.
    • Wear comfortable clothes. Tie up your hair.
    • Have a smoothie or light snack.
    • Bring out your vacuum cleaner, cleaning caddy, baskets/bags, and garbage bags (large ones).
    • Keep your phone aside. Try to use it only when necessary.
    • Set the timer. As this will help you stay focused and race.

    #Round1 — Tackle Laundry:

Bring a laundry basket (for dirty washing) and a bag (for not-so-dirty clothing) with you.

For laundry, starting in the bedroom is a pretty good idea.

First, quickly fold and put away fresh/clean washing.

Next, dump all the dirty washing into the laundry basket.

Collect no-so-dirty clothing into the bag, you can handle them later.

Remove sheets/covers while you are there. Put it into the hamper.

Check bathrooms for dirty towels and laundry.

Make sure to grab clothes from the living room too. If the cushion covers and throws need cleaning, grab them too.

Lastly, check the kitchen for dirty rags, kitchen towels, etc.

Bring everything to the laundry room. Start a load of daily wash (since it doesn’t need special treatment). Doing so at least one load of laundry will be done as you finish cleaning.

#Round2 — Pick up the house:

In the next round, we’ll pick up and straighten things real quick.

Grab a basket/bag to collect items (that come from another room) and a bag for garbage.

Start in the room that feels more out of control.

    Start clockwise.

If the items belong to the same room quickly place them back in the designated area.

Put toys in the toy box and items from the other rooms into the basket/bag.

Simultaneously collect garbage. Collect dirty dishes, bowls, or cups in one corner.

    Straighten up alongside.

Follow the same steps for the bedroom, kids’ room, and entryway. Yes, don’t forget the entryway.

#Round3 — Clean up the kitchen:

Let’s tackle the kitchen pretty quickly too.

First, grab all the scraps and waste. Throw them in the trash bin. (I always begin with this because 50 percent of my work gets done with this one step).

Next, clear clutter from the countertops. Put away supplies, appliances (that need to go inside the cabinets), and also any clean dishes. Things like mail, toys, stationery, etc get collected into a bag/basket.

Load and run (if the load is full) the dishwasher.

Wipe down the stove and countertops. Quickly wipe the appliances.

Wash off any remaining utensils. Quickly scrub, rinse, and dry the sink and ta-da.

    #Round4 — Tidy bathroom:

Since the dirty laundry is already taken care of, the bathroom job is a matter of minutes.

Shake off and dust the bath mat.

Quickly spray the mirror, sink, toilet bowl, and bath fixtures with a cleaner. Let it sit and do the job while you return things in place.

Wipe down the mirror, sink, counters, flush tank, and toilet seat. Quickly scrub the toilet. Squeegee walls. Mop floor.

    Remove trash.

    Turn on the Aroma diffuser.

#Round5 — Take out the trash, dust, and vacuum:

    Take out the trash first.

Next, quickly remove cobwebs. Dust and wipe down surfaces, mirrors, lamps, lights, ceiling fans, dining room tables and chairs, and furniture.

Lastly, vacuum high-traffic areas — living room, kids’ room, kitchen, bedroom, entryway.

Put new sheets on the bed; fresh cushion covers and throw; towels in the kitchen and bathroom.

Lit some scented candles or turn on the diffuser of essential oil.

    Final words:

There you have a nice and clean home in the shortest time.

Give yourself a pat on the back. Now you can crash on your couch with your phone, reward yourself with some favorite food, watch TV, or do whatever you love before you get to your further duties.

  • 10 HOUSE CLEANING RULES To Make Your Life Easier

10 HOUSE CLEANING RULES To Make Your Life Easier

Speaking of cleaning, the year 2022 was great. I must say I grew to love cleaning. I know that might sound odd but it is true. Briefly, I followed certain cleaning rules that helped me keep my home clean and tidy (all the time).

If you’re like my past self you hate cleaning. We think we hate cleaning but actually dread it because it feels drawn-out and neverending. The results vanish shortly too.

In truth, cleaning is not laborious. The way we do it is.

If this wasn’t true, why would some people clean effortlessly and others not?

Our cleaning technique/sequence of sub-tasks makes all the difference.

After 15 years of trial and error, I have reached a point when my parents appreciate my clean home. When I am ready to welcome unexpected visitors in the shortest time of 10 minutes.

    How did I get there?

I was tired of living in a mess.

After reading a lot about cleaning, and watching seasoned homemakers, I discovered some cleaning rules. I discovered some reliable rules and practices for my home that made cleaning, a piece of cake.

I set strict rules for myself; I became more disciplined; I followed those cleaning rules religiously for some time. This time I was a little patient and consistent.

Truth be told, it changed my life.

And now I can’t wait to share my cleaning rules with you my lovelies. So let’s begin.

10 Effective HOUSE CLEANING RULES To Make Your Life Easier

10 EFFECTIVE HOUSE CLEANING RULES THAT’LL MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER

    1| Pick 3-4 areas/rooms:

That you want to focus on.

This step is crucial if surprise guests get you cold feet.

For me, it’s my living room + entrance, kitchen, and bathroom.

When these areas in my home are picked up, my house looks clean.

I usually restore things, arrange them, and sweep-mop the floor daily. So my living room is under control.

But my entryway is mostly messy and calls for attention.

For the kitchen, I like to keep on top of the dishes. I wipe the counters twice a day and try to keep them clutter-free.

For the bathroom, I follow my 5-minute bathroom cleaning routine that I have already shared with you.

That’s all, no more terrifying random visits.

Similarly, you can pick areas/rooms in your home that are noticeable, make a list of what needs to get done in those areas and work accordingly.

Along with this, also make sure that your home smells good. Because that’s going to make a whole lot of difference.

2| Create a playlist of your favorite songs:

Which can be your cleaning playlist.

You can also listen to a podcast. But I find upbeat music helpful, especially when I don’t feel like cleaning at all.

Cleaning gets done much faster when you’re listening to your favorite songs.

It’s a good way to make cleaning time a little more interesting.

3| Put your home to bed each night:

Every night, before I go to bed, I put everything back where it belongs. It hardly takes me 2-5 minutes to tidy up each room but that makes a huge difference when I wake up in the morning.

You’ll experience a positive change in your life as you start implementing this.

Take a look around the important areas/rooms in your house — living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. See if anything is out of place. Put it back in place. That’ll make all the difference.

Your house will look so much cleaner when you wake up in the morning.

For your kitchen, you can check out my article on putting your kitchen to bed in less than 10 minutes.

Leaving the house untidy at night is a recipe for a miserable day ahead.

It doesn’t take so long when you do stuff often.

It’s always best to control and prepare for the next morning.

    4| Keep your laundry current:

Want to save yourself from an insane laundry day?

Do laundry two or three times a week.

This is going to make your life so much better irrespective of your family size.

One day you can throw in a load of bedsheets and covers. Towels or homewear clothes on other days.

It becomes a lot easier to deal with a small load (wash, dry, and put away). Lesser stuff is often easier to manage.

    5| One-move storage system:

This is again a wise step to keep your house tidy all the time.

What I mean by a one-move storage system is — you store things in the place of their first use. That means store them where you use them.

This single-move storage system involves not only grouping similar items together but when you open your closet, vanity, or drawer — you grab whatever you want to use in one move.

For example, store skincare and haircare products in the bathroom where you use them instead of a dresser in the bedroom.

Cleaning rags and kitchen towels in the kitchen cabinet drawer.

Dishwashing and kitchen cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink.

Bathroom cleaning supplies near the bathroom.

If you find your kids or husband never put their dirty clothes into the hamper even after telling them several times. Take a look at where you have placed the hamper? Is it easily accessible? Is it easier for kids and even elders to open it and dump the clothes in? Maybe placing an open basket (one without a lid) in your bedroom or near the bathroom can improve the situation. Also keeping detergents, fabric conditioners, and a basket near the washer can make laundry time hassle-free.

Another way is to keep a trash bin in every room. Keep it in a place where it is easier to use.

Similarly, your nightstand is not only a place to decorate with flowers and lamps. It should be functional as well. In fact, it should be organized thoughtfully. After a long day, you would hardly feel like getting up to grab a book/planner, pen, foot cream, or specs in case you want to read a book. So it’s smart to have those things on your nightstand.

6| Do it in one go:

Halfway spots make your house look untidy. Try to eliminate them as much as you can. Start targeting one spot and build on it gradually.

For instance, earlier my kitchen table was a catchall spot. Though it was convenient to toss everything on, it made me feel terrible.

But now the surfaces of my house are clear. I use them for work or decor purposes only. However, when they’re unused, they are mostly empty because that’s how I like them to be.

    7| Do it daily:

Daily care is imperative for home management.

In fact, everyday maintenance takes less time than delaying until the condition gets out of hand.

By just giving your home 5 or 10 minutes a day you can get your home in pretty good shape.

It’s simple, the house that has been neglected for a week is going to take an hour or two to get back in order.

However, when you do it daily you can keep your house looking clean without spending a big chunk of time cleaning.

In the earlier years of my marriage, I never used to do my dishes or kitchen clean during the daytime. I used to do it at night. I remember it took me 1 hour to put things, wash the dishes, and wipe down the stove and countertop as I was a messy cook. It was a huge energy and time-consuming process. Since it took a lot of effort I simply dreaded the task. Life was pretty stressful. Then I started putting the ingredients back in their place after use. Doing so made the task a little easier. Then after some time, along with that, I started wiping down the messes instantly. That my job 60 percent easier. Then I started rinsing the chopping board, knives, and like items, immediately.  Since it got easier with every additional step. I started enjoying the task. Now even a small bit of wrapper or peel on my countertop makes me feel uneasy. I can’t stand dishes in my sink. I always like my sink to be empty if not shiny.

The same was the case with laundry and other parts of cleaning.

By neglecting cleaning tasks you are only going to make your tomorrow worse. It only going to add extra hours to your cleaning schedule.

    8| Preventive care:

You really work hard to declutter, clean, and organize your home but it barely stays that way. Just like your teeth need to be brushed daily. Your skin needs to be cleansed daily. Your nails need to be trimmed regularly. Things in your house require attention and care regularly.

The house is going to get messy. The clutter is going to pile up and things scatter.

The simplest solution is preventive care.

There are 3 easy ways to do this.

    • Declutter every now and then
    • Clean as you go
    • Straighten up before bed

    9| Look before you leap:

Being organized is essentially about being logical before acting.

Often, following the same old cleaning methods get you nowhere.

The way our mom or grandma did their housework may not work for us. So, we should be open to change. Maybe there’s a better way to clean the dishes faster, maybe there’s an effective way to keep on top of your laundry, or maybe there’s an easier way to dust your house, sweep, or mop the floors.

Thankfully, in this era of the internet, finding new solutions, tips, tricks, and techniques is available at the click of a button.

Find some new, efficient, and time-saving ways of doing your housework. Look for shortcuts and ways to do things faster and better.

10| Declutter from time to time:

I agree decluttering at times is challenging. For me, the decision-making that goes on whether to keep or discard something is the tough part.

But those efforts pay off when your day-to-day life becomes easy.

Life is simpler when you only have the things you need. The fewer items in your house, the lesser decisions you have to make.

Plus, more stuff equals more items to dust, clean, organize, and maintain. And move back and forth while cleaning.

    Final words:

There you have 10 effective cleaning rules to make your life easier.

These cleaning rules have helped me keep my house clean and tidy. I’m sure they’ll help you too.

Keeping the house clean is easier, it just takes some discipline.

A little determination to give your house a few minutes a day can help you have a clean and beautiful home.

I hope you find this helpful. Be sure to share your experience. Thank you so much for reading. Happy cleaning!

  • Quick POWER HOUR Cleaning Routine | Daily 60-minute HOME RESET

Quick POWER HOUR Cleaning Routine | Daily 60-minute HOME RESET

Is your home a complete mess and you don’t know where to start? The power hour cleaning routine can your super assistant.

If cleaning leads your entire day and you can’t find time for important business, a power-hour cleaning routine could help too.

Let’s accept it, cleaning takes up plenty of time and energy. With little kids, it’s hard to keep on.

And even though we put effort into cleaning, our house barely stays like that.

Maybe that’s the main reason we put off cleaning. But doing so is a recipe for disaster. Which is going to take twice as much time and effort.

    What is power hour cleaning?

Briefly, power hour is an intensive speed cleaning time when you concentrate only on essential housekeeping tasks. And focus on getting them done at a fast pace.

You can do power hour in many ways.

You can do it daily to get your home back in order. You can do it when your house gets out of control and you lack motivation.

In fact, we all can benefit from this cleaning session.

If you’re a working mom and struggle to keep the house clean throughout the week. Doing power hour cleaning on weekends can help reset your home.

If you’re a work-at-home mommy, the power hour cleaning can help you accomplish your entire cleaning in an hour so you can put extra hours into work. A great way to get cleaning out of the way and find enough time for work and family.

Similarly, stay-at-home moms can benefit too. Cleaning tasks spread throughout the day? Not anymore. You no longer need to spend the entire day cleaning. One solid hour devoted to cleaning and your home will be all set.

Either, you wake up before your family for your power hour or do it after your kids go to bed. The evening is also an excellent time to reset your home for a slow and peaceful morning.

That said, there’s no specific time to do your power hour cleaning. It’s just that I find early morning and nighttime the best to avoid distractions.

Quick Power Hour Cleaning _ 60-Minute HOME RESET

    What to expect?

This isn’t deep cleaning. This cleaning method won’t give you a spotless, pure, perfect place. Rather your home will be a better place to function. The people in your home can relax, find stuff effortlessly, and enjoy their time at home.

After your power hour cleaning, you’ll be able to serve meals on time, provide fresh laundry, ascertain the bathroom is hygienic, ensure clean floors for the kids to play on. Plus, family members can find what they’re looking for.

Quick tips before we start our power hour:

    • Create a short cleaning checklist of tasks you want to accomplish during power hour.
    • Keep cleaning supplies accessible to prevent breaks (disruption) and time wasting.
    • Be aware you’re not using your phone, except for something really important. Some people find watching Television while cleaning distracting too.
    • Avoid the temptation to deep clean something. That’s a project for another day.
    • If you plan to do power hour cleaning on weekends, you must keep up with at least a few things during the week. You may need to wipe your kitchen table, counters, bathroom mirror, and sink, and swish the toilet several times a week. Throw in a load or two of laundry and run the dishwasher once or twice a week. So it is easier for you.

Nighttime can be more conducive for cleaning as kids are in bed and your husband is enjoying his ‘me’ time watching tv or reading a book.

Quick & Easy Night Time Cleaning Routine - FOR RELAXING MORNINGS

    Let’s get started.

QUICK & EASY NIGHTTIME CLEANING ROUTINE – FOR RELAXING MORNINGS

    1| Deal with the laundry:

Starting off in the kitchen after a long day can be daunting. Hence, sorting laundry and loading the washer is a good first step.

To make my mornings more manageable, I simply get ahead and put my laundry detergent (powder) in the dispenser too. So, in the morning, I’ll just turn on the washer, and bingo.

If you haven’t already, fold and put away the fresh load too. Don’t let it sit there until tomorrow. Set the timer for 5 minutes and get it cleared off right away.

2| Load the dishwasher and get it running:

Now that you’ve gathered momentum, let’s tackle the kitchen.

Rinse off the dishes, load the dishwasher, and get it started.

Put things back. Take care of the leftovers.

Wash off pots and pans. Give the sink a good scrub.

Wipe down the countertops and appliances.

Take everything off the dining table and give it a good wipe. Wipe down the highchair and other chairs. Straighten up. Quickly put things away.

Time to sweep or vacuum the floors. You can go ahead and spot-mop if necessary.

Quickly take out the trash and place a new garbage bag.

3| Quick pickup — living room, bedroom, kids’ room:

Spend a couple of minutes in each room getting it back in order.

Fold the blankets, gather all the toys, put things away, and straighten up.

    Quickly vacuum, if needed.

    4| Tidy up the bathroom:

If you haven’t done it already (in your morning cleaning routine) spend a few moments in your bathroom tidying it up.

Nothing much. Just clear out things on your vanity. Put them back. Straighten up things.

Quickly wipe down the mirror, counter, sink, and toilet with the disinfectant wipes.

    Place fresh towels.

We’ll discuss in a while why I think starting in the kitchen is a good way.

    • Start putting dirty dishes into the dishwasher.
    • Pick up clutter from the countertops. Put leftovers, veggies, sauce bottles, and spice jars into the refrigerator and cabinets, respectively.
    • Put mail, toys, clothes, or anything that does not belong in the kitchen in a bag or basket. You can deal with it later.
    • Quickly wash any pots or pans in the sink. Wipe down the sink.
    • Sweep/vacuum the floor.

Often, it’s quite not possible to clean the kitchen in 5 minutes. Even if you’re just two of you and your kitchen is spick and span. It can still be unattainable. So don’t be hard on yourself. Don’t work your fingers to the bone.

You can come back later and carry on where you left off.

For now, just focus on working on the next room.

All you have to do is switch rooms when the timer stops. And come back to the kitchen in the spare moments you get from cleaning any of the targeted rooms.

    5-minute tidy Bedroom challenge:

    • Make the bed.
    • Straighten up the nightstands quickly.
    • Pick up the clothes lying around. If they’re clean toss them in the drawers. No folding and organizing to perfection, please. Just throw them in there for now.
    • If there’s dirty laundry, collect them near the bedroom door. So you can grab them as you head out.
    • Vacuum the floor.

Remember we’re SPEED cleaning. All you have is 5 minutes for each room.

If you think you’ve finished early, get to the kitchen and proceed with the remaining work.

Move on to the next room as soon as the timer turns off.
