10 Top TIME-MANAGEMENT Tips For Homemakers

Spread the love

Effective time management can help you succeed in life.

We all know the importance of time in our lives.

Thus, mastering your time and using it productively is essential, especially for homemakers.

Throughout the day you strive to make time for important household duties. But you hardly find enough time. Which makes you feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious.

That said, managing your time effectively can help you accomplish considerable work. And also make time for things you love.

Constructive time management is when you make fruitful use of your time. And get your key tasks done. It means having ample time for yourself and your family.

10 Top TIME-MANAGEMENT Tips For Homemakers

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #1 Ditch Perfection:

As a homemaker, you must let go of perfection if you don’t want to hamper your progress/success.

Perfectionism is nothing but constantly being under pressure to perform in excellent condition.

Studies show perfectionism can be damaging to your health since it is linked with stress, depression, and anxiety.

Many times, perfection is about unrealistic high standards or extreme goals.

It is going to take you nowhere. Because perfection doesn’t necessarily mean we’re improving at something.

I see it as a trap that hinders your potential to begin work.

Ever since I allowed myself to be an imperfect homemaker and embrace good enough results, I saw myself thrive in homemaking. My house was reasonably clean, laundry was kept current, meals were prepared timely, and things were in place. I was fairly satisfied.

So I think the first obstacle you should address and conquer for everything to fall in place is ditch perfectionism.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #2 Be an early riser:

Waking up early may sound like a drudgery but it’s a practice worth developing.

Along with the numerous physical and mental benefits of waking up early, it provides additional hours to plan your day and be efficient with your time.

It is a good chance for homemakers to quit the daily mad rush; relax; plan/organize their day; and have some alone time for themselves when they can engage in hobbies, incorporate exercise, learn new skills, meditate, or simply enjoy interrupted time.

My own experience of rising early is you have more energy throughout the day. You start your day more calmly.

Last but important you feel happy because you accomplish more in your day. Also, you’re right on schedule.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #3 Sound systems and routines:

Routines and systems are crucial to lead a meaningful life since they’re action-oriented.

They tell you what to do after you wake up from sleep.

Routines empower you to be productive and in control of your day.

Good systems and routines eliminate the need to plan and make small daily decisions.

Especially in the case of cleaning.

Having a cleaning chart/checklist of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks is convenient.

Don’t let the laundry or dishes pile up. Put things back where they belong immediately after use. Place trash bins in high-traffic areas. Encourage your family members to use it.

Include at least one cleaning or organizational project in your daily routine.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #4 Plan:

To excel in homemaking you need to set some goals. Of course small, achievable goals.

Planning is the gateway to attaining those goals.

Planning turns missions into action-oriented tasks.

It ensures focus, leaving no possibility for distraction.

A well-designed plan obliges decision-making and further motivates one to achieve goals.

When we pen down our goals and an action plan to accomplish those goals, it makes us understand our work better. Which further helps us do our job more effectively.

Planning can help you work smarter, not harder.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #5 Prioritize:

Prioritizing means organizing our action plan to determine the urgency or seriousness of the tasks.

It helps to stay focused on the most important work.

Being aware of the priorities helps you reduce stress and improve productivity.

These days our overloaded to-do lists can be overwhelming.

Prioritizing can help curb your to-do list and put your workload in order.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #6 Stop procrastination:

Count me in. In fact, we all procrastinate somewhere along the line.

The first step to overcoming procrastination is realizing you’re procrastinating if you want to manage your time well.

If you ditch perfection, plan, and prioritize your day without fail, you won’t procrastinate because most of your work is already done.

Break bigger tasks into bite-size chunks as much as you can.

Start small with 1-minute or 2-minute tasks.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #7 Streamline beauty routine:

With the rising beauty norms, things become a little difficult for us.

Hours fly following a fancy skincare routine, applying layers of makeup, and dressing up stylishly and we don’t even realize it.

If your beauty routine is really complicated and time-consuming it’s worth reconsidering.

If you can — try shampooing your hair the night before or in the evenings to avoid the morning rush. Shampooing, blow-drying, and hairdressing can be the biggest time-wasters.

Consider simplifying your morning skincare and makeup routine. Or schedule a detailed skincare routine at nighttime to manage your time well.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #8 Use downtime wisely:

Clean as you go.

Tidy as you go.

Prepare ahead as much as you can.

Straighten out your home maximum possible.

Organize your life.

Those spare moments are golden pockets, make sure you never lose/miss them.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #9 Schedule breaks:

Taking a few breaks during the day enhances mood.

Missing out on breaks is the recipe for higher stress and exhaustion.

Scheduling breaks improves productivity and is great for your mental health and well-being.

It enhances focus and memory and provides a sense of gratification.

Breaks allow you to pause and relax. And restart fresh with renewed energy.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP # 10 Group similar tasks:

Batching similar tasks together eliminates sidetracking and saves you time and energy.

It ensures finishing tasks in less time.

Example: getting groceries, returning books to the library, getting dry cleaned clothes in one go.

Cleaning out your refrigerator before emptying your kitchen garbage bin.

You get the point.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #11 Be self-reliant:

Delegate tasks but don’t rely on family members all the time.

Because many times it can cause disappointments. Instead of getting into the habit of getting help try to be self-reliant.

Automate wherever you can.

I hope these tips help you save and manage your precious time better.
