  • The LAZY Day Cleaning Routine

    The LAZY Day Cleaning Routine

A Lazy day? Yes, many of us have been there. Yet some might be wondering what I mean by that.

A lazy day can be both planned and unplanned.

A planned inactive day is when you take a day off from the workload you have been tied up with for days.

While an unscheduled dull time – when you’re fatigued.

As I said, a lot of us go through laziness. Nothing wrong with that. It’s natural to feel lazy when we are exhausted (thanks to greater responsibilities), stressed, or ill.

I agree, cleaning can be overwhelming when the mess is huge (since it is labour-intensive).

But what if it only takes 15 minutes to get the house back in order?

    Then it might sound doable.

Yes, spending barely 15 minutes of your entire day to get a small portion done ensures your tomorrow is a little comfortable. That you won’t get weighed down with the previous day’s chaos.

Here’s what you can achieve in just 15 minutes to prevent regret and stress later on after enjoying your lazy day.

This is a quick 3-step tidy-up routine that can help restore order and peace in your home while still relishing your lazy, relaxing time.

    1| Load/unload dishwasher

Empty the dishwasher (if you haven’t yet). Load dirty dishes.

Get the sink cleared of any pots and pans. Wash them quickly and get them out of the way.

    2| 2-minute pickup busy areas:

Here we are mostly going to focus on the main living areas — the living room and the bedroom.

Set the timer for 2 minutes per room. Try to round off as much as you can.

Put away toys in the toy bin.

Collect dirty laundry in one place.

Carry a basket/bag with you to collect out-of-place items.

Quickly straighten up the cushions and blankets on the couch.

For the bedroom, set the bed.

    3| Sweep/Vacuum:

Lastly, sweep or vacuum crumbs on the kitchen and living room floor, real quick.

    That’s all.

If you follow this brief 3-step tidy-up routine, you will no longer regret being lazy.

In fact, things will be in check. You can get on with your day and won’t have to deal with the older messes.

You can surely modify this routine to as your tidying tasks preferences.

Never forget – something is always better than nothing.

Today’s teeny-tiny steps can prevent things from piling up. It makes sure the workload stays under control and does not intensify.

  • How To Get Cleaning Done On Autopilot

How To Get Cleaning Done On Autopilot

I always look for ways to get the cleaning done on autopilot. Today, I’m glad to tell you that after years of trial and error, I finally discovered some effective techniques.

In all sincerity, I’m inclined to clean a little bit every day rather than deep cleaning once in a blue moon.

I’m always hunting for tips and tricks to help me keep my house clean without even knowing.

When I first tried this cleaning method, my house-cleaning was done on Autopilot.

I ensured that I stick to this cleaning method. And as the months went my house looked and felt clean without much effort and thought.

Also, the need for deep cleaning has been banished.

Firstly, what does getting cleaning done on autopilot mean?

You accomplish things on autopilot when you do them without even thinking.

Automaticity occurs when a certain action is overpracticed or overfamiliarized.

There are so many things we do on Autopilot every single day. Example: taking a shower, making coffee, checking your phone notifications, etc

We don’t need to plan or think before doing the foregoing things, right?

That is because you are experienced in doing these things. Since you’re at ease in doing them, you don’t have to think about them, and they get done on autopilot.

Similarly, to get cleaning done on autopilot, you need to be seasoned in it. This is possible when you grow used to or get into the habit of cleaning.

The easiest way to practice cleaning is by following good systems or routines.

    DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

Our home appears fresh and beautiful, besides safe when it is clean.

Daily cleaning prevents the chance of disease and brings a bright outlook to our lives.

Yet you don’t have to dust, scrub, wipe, or shine everything every day in your home to keep it clean.

You just have to focus on a few things daily.

    Wash dishes

If you own a dishwasher, make sure to load/unload it daily.

In the case of hand dishwashing, quickly get them done.

    Laundry

Do at least one load of laundry every day

    Tidy Up

    This includes bed-making.

    straightening out the couches.

Putting toys, belongings, mail, and stuff back in their places.

    Remove trash.

    Straighten things up.

    Sweep

Last but not least, put in just 2 or 5 minutes to sweep/vacuum the busy areas.

    READ: DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

    WEEKLY CLEANING CHECKLIST

Similarly, weekly cleaning can minimize stress and provide comfort, too.

Along with your daily cleaning routine, spending 10 extra minutes is all you have to do to maintain a clean home.

    Monday

    •  Change sheets

    Tuesday

    • Dusting

    Wednesday

    • Vacuum/Mop

    Thursday

    • Wipe mirrors, windows, and doors

    Friday

    • Declutter/rearrange (trouble spots)

    Saturday

    • Empty all garbage bins

    Final Words

These basic cleaning tasks are powerful enough to keep your home in a better shape.

If you are someone who wants to have a clean home with minimal effort, this cleaning checklist would be a valuable assistance.

As long as you stick to it (which is the only way to accomplish it), I can assure you your home will get clean on autopilot.

  • 3 Tips To Get Messy House Back In Order

3 Tips To Get Messy House Back In Order

    Overwhelmed by the messy house?

Certainly, cluttered/messy surrounding is bound to stress, anxiety, and poor concentration. It makes you feel jammed.

That said, we all go through such situations. Our house can get really messy at times. Be it a long vacation, some celebration, having guests over, health issues, or simply because you procrastinated for several days/months.

No matter what it is, these simple tricks work. They are simple yet effective.

If you keep following these steps at least once every few days your house won’t get that bad.

3 TIPS TO GET MESSY HOUSE BACK IN ORDER

    1| Start teeny-tiny:

The very first step is to start small. Really really small.

Little baby steps are the key. Especially when decluttering, cleaning, and organizing your home.

Initially, designate a doable chunk of time — 10 or 15 minutes every day. Give yourself permission to perform average (good enough).

Remember, the state of your house has become like this for a while. So it will be wise to give it time to be restored in a sustainable way.

Even in the case of decluttering, stick to the basics in the beginning. For example, discard old clothes, expired products, broken items, etc.- Things that you don’t have to think twice about.

    2| Keep it simple:

    Finish in One swipe.

Example: If your dining table is covered in dust with all the stuff scattered. Just take a basket. Put all the stuff lying on the dining table into the basket. And give the table a quick wipe. If grease/spots are smeared on the table, spray some good cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe it. Remember wipe just once and move on. Allow yourself to work loosely without precision. It’ll keep getting better every time you wipe it. But for now, let’s not get into scrubbing/scraping and focusing on that single table. Let’s proceed to our next cleaning project.

If your ceiling fans/light fixtures or other stuff is covered in dust, then as well wipe it once. Don’t go over it again. Not even once during that particular session. You can clean it on the next cleaning schedule.

Remember to clean/wipe/dust only once per session.

    Reason?
Scrubbing/wiping/dusting the same thing repeatedly is really discouraging especially when you think of cleaning in the future.

    Embrace good enough results.

Another thing is to try putting things back in their place in

    3| Go through again:

Do it over every few days.

If you clean in this manner, things will start looking okayish in the first go.

The second time it will look good.

That way it’ll keep getting in shape and you won’t have to break your back in a single attempt.

That way cleaning won’t be daunting. In fact, next time you might feel motivated because:

    • You are just going to clean/declutter /organize for 10 or 15 minutes
    • cleaning has now become less laborious
    • Since you clean at regular intervals the workload is light.

In what order can you clean a messy house?

I usually begin in the living room. Then I set my bedroom and lastly, I go to my kitchen.

  • 3 Effective Ways To MANAGE YOUR TIME As A Homemaker |DEVOTEE LIFESTYLE

3 Effective Ways To MANAGE YOUR TIME As A Homemaker |DEVOTEE LIFESTYLE

As a (devotee) homemaker, we have many responsibilities. Along with household services and caring for our family, we need to ensure that our Bhakti sadhana is fulfilled meticulously. To accomplish everything you need to master skills and manage your time effectively.

At the beginning of my devotee life, I couldn’t manage everything well.

Some days I was all occupied with my household duties and my Sadhana was put aside. Other times my sadhana went well, but the housework lingered.

I learned a lot from senior (Vaishnav) devotee homemakers on YouTube.

I admire their hard work and dedication in managing home and sadhana so efficiently.

Some challenges didn’t allow me to achieve everything. Analysing my time thoroughly I observed there were many silent time wasters.

Today I’m specifying 3 major productivity-killing activities that occupy a larger part of your life.

3 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO MANAGE YOUR TIME AS A HOMEMAKER

Manage Your Time #1 Get off your phone/devices:

The very first step to managing your time has to be ditching your phone/TV etc.

Mobile phones have become a central aspect of our life. It’s easier to lose ourselves in endless connectivity.

In the present era, there’s no big housebreaker like your screen time.

Being a devotee, watching materialistic things is restricted. Still, even the Bhakti-related notifications/comments/topics can make us wander from the important task at hand at that very moment.

We pause to check 1 or 2 notifications and before we know it hours pass.

There are few things you can change for good. Since phone usage can impede concentration (destructive for our Bhakti).

You can customize or turn off notifications from unwanted shopping apps, social media apps, etc

You can remove pointless apps (which you haven’t opened in months) from your phone.

Use your phone for Bhakti-related activities only. Set a time limit.

See your phone after fulfilling your duties — Mangal Arati, bhog offering, Shringar sewa, Shayan sewa, cleaning sewa, family sewa, and all.

You can use your phone during your breaks but make sure you return to service shortly after.

Never forget, being a devotee, dependency on any materialistic thing isn’t advisable.

Manage Your Time #2 Bucket System:

Don’t let the clock dictate your life. Instead, have a bucket system.

I don’t know what the world means by the bucket system of productivity.

For me, it’s plain, simple, and efficient.

My idea of a bucket system?

I have 4 buckets (lists) for all the tasks that I carry out in a day.

In other words, 4 categories/fields of tasks.

    For instance,

    • 1st bucket includes Bhakti Sadhana-related where I have grouped all the crucial sadhana activities (chanting, reading, hearing, Mangla, etc)
    • 2nd bucket is all about housework. All the daily/weekly cleaning duties and other important home-related sewa are listed here
    • 3rd bucket is family-related sewa (Individual care, festivities/occasions, outings (Dham visits, etc)
    • 4th bucket is self-related (exercise/grooming/haircare routine etc)

My day-to-day routine consists of activities from all of these buckets.

With this sort of bucket system, sorting or prioritizing the most important tasks for the day has become a breeze for me.

    Manage Your Time #3 Prioritize:

Having a schedule is a must to increase your productivity and get things done.

After categorizing tasks in different buckets, your list may seem overwhelming.

So you must prioritize your duties as per their worth/significance.

With buckets, writing a to-do list would just be a matter of minutes. Since you have a list ahead of you.

Try to keep the to-do list short.

    Embrace the power of three.

Meaning, picking only 3 tasks from each bucket. So that the list is brief. As fewer tasks are usually manageable.

    Bonus Tip:

Organize your space once every week so that you can operate easily.

Maintain a Work-life balance. Work efficiently while you’re working. Choose quality over quantity.

  • 8 Helpful MONSOON HOMEMAKING Hacks

    8 Helpful MONSOON HOMEMAKING Hacks

Monsoon is a total bliss with all its adorable sound and green picturesque views. Many of us love the rainy season. We want to slow down and enjoy this special time of the year. However, like other seasons, monsoons come with their challenges too — moisture, dampened walls, and different insects.

The rainy season calls for attention to maintain a healthy, hygienic, and pleasant atmosphere in your home while also relishing the lovely weather.

That said, the wet and cloudy weather typically makes you feel lazy and sleepy. Bearing that in mind we have kept the homemaking routine and preventive arrangements simple and easy to follow.

Today I have listed a few monsoon homemaking hacks that you might find helpful.

    8 HELPFUL MONSOON HOMEMAKING HACKS

1| Replace thick fabric with lighter ones:

The issue of stinky carpets/drapery is common in monsoons.

Heavy rugs, doormats, curtains, and (too many) cushions/pillows retain moisture and give off a bad odor.

Carpets/rugs/ sofa covers are free passes for the bugs too.

So it’s logical to replace thicker fabric with thin, lightweight ones. As it’s even difficult to clean/wash and dry such items in rainy weather.

It also makes sense to put away heavy, textured artwork that is complicated to clean and maintain.

    2| Keep kitchen sink dry:

Excessive humidity enhances moisture levels in the kitchen.

Also, it’s a trouble spot that attracts flies and yields a gross smell when dirty dishes are left longer.

Doing the dishes a couple times a day and wiping the sink dry would prevent such issues.

    3| Dry mop:

In monsoons, dry/spot mopping is recommended instead of traditional wet mopping.

This helps avoid moisture buildup besides keeping the floor clean.

I spray some vinegar and Dettol all over the floor, which cleans and disinfects the floor pretty well.

    4| Dry dust:

Similarly using dry cloth over damp cloth for dusting the surfaces and knick-knacks allows them to remain dry and germ-free as wood tends to distend/swell in a wet atmosphere.

5| Stock up only required groceries:

Avoid stocking up on extra groceries mainly edible products.

Many things perish soon in wet weather. Some things solidify, and others melt down, irrespective of the measures you take.

    6| Ventilate longer possible:

Keeping windows open during monsoon can be challenging since it causes insect trouble.

But you can open them using net shade.
ventilation is crucial to keep the musty smell at bay and prevent moles and mildew in the home.

7| Stay on top of laundry:

Drying the clothes is a big concern in rainy weather.

Smaller loads are easier to handle and dry faster during rains.

Even if you have a big load of laundry, split them into two small piles. The clothes with smaller loads wash well, dry soon, and are easier to fold and put away.

8| Declutter and have minimum stuff:

All of the above steps make sense when you declutter now and then and own less stuff.

    Organizing clutter is wearisome.

Removing unwanted stuff from your home means creating more space to (neatly) organize your valuable possessions.

Also, owning less stuff means fewer things to worry about and saving from mold and mildew in monsoon season.

    Additional Tips:

    • Have a shoe rack at the entrance so you can remove your wet shoes outside the door
    • Discard garbage daily to eliminate odor
    • Avoid standing water anywhere in the house
    • Place plants in open spaces outside the house as they cause wetness and attract bugs
    • Cooking and eating under bright light is recommended in cloudy weather.
    • Check electric power ties to ensure safety in case of leaks
    • Maintain a clean and dry bathroom to prevent mustiness. Disinfectant regularly for better hygiene
    • Switch on the fan to keep the surroundings dry and fresh

Those are some important tips to take good care of your home and resolve weather-related issues.

Don’t get so occupied that you miss out on enjoying this blissful time of the year (monsoon).

  • DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

    DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

In all sincerity, this daily cleaning checklist has been working wonders for my home and I’m sure it’ll help you too.

With this less than 30-minute daily cleaning routine you can expect your home to function smoothly.

Bonus, if you finish this quick and easy daily cleaning routine in the early hours you’ll be all done for the day. Plus, you won’t fear welcoming a surprise guest.

All these years of homemaking I tried many systems and routines for my home. However, household routines cannot be the same for everyone.

I observed certain things and learned from my mistakes.

There were some teeny-tiny cleaning tasks that I used to miss out on, and I wonder why my home still doesn’t feel up to par.

Those tasks were so small that they never hit my to-do list (I never felt like mentioning them on my cleaning list).

And because I didn’t write them they got neglected and my house never felt good even after cleaning religiously.

Lately, when I started to put those tasks on my to-do list, it transformed everything.

    SIMPLE DAILY CLEANING CHECKLIST

    Wash dishes:

Dishwashing and wiping the countertops are crucial things. They eliminate odors, splatters, and pests, and prevent disease and ensure good sanitation.

Washing the dishes routinely keeps your kitchen and also utensils clean and free of bacteria. We’ve heard this several times yet we never succeed in keeping at it.

If you own a dishwasher then it’s pretty easy for you — unload and load the dishwasher. But even handwashing dishes isn’t that hard as long as you are disciplined.

With constant routine dishwashing becomes just a matter of minutes. You feel so much in control of things when your kitchen is in check.

    TIME: 5-10 minutes

READ: How To Keep Your Kitchen Clean In 10 Minutes Or Less

    Wipe down:

    Coffee and dining table.

I know that sounds minute but this small act makes a remarkable difference.

Dinner & coffee tables are heavily used areas in our home. Yet we often overlook cleaning them.

Both dinner and coffee tables serve more than just eating purposes. They usually end up being study and play areas for kids.

Having a basket beside each table to quickly gather things in one place makes wiping down easier.

A thorough wipe using a rag/microfibre cloth and all-purpose cleaner is all you gotta do.

Also, wipe the Kitchen countertop after washing dishes.

As I said it looks good when unlikely guests arrive. It shows that you are dutiful and care for your family and home.

    TIME: 1 minute each

    Pick up:

    living room and bedroom.

Usually, (most) homemakers begin their day by making beds, which is a perfect way to start the morning. But what about the living room, where your family spends their entire day?

When you come to your living room first thing in the morning take a moment to instantly fold blankets, fluff and straighten up the cushions, gather toys in one place (if any), and put things back in their place.

Once you make the bed, take another minute to straighten up the nightstand immediately, fold any clothes lying on the chair or take those coffee mugs (if any) with you as you head out.

With these teeny-tiny practices you’ll be set for the day.

    TIME: 2 MINUTES PER ROOM

    Quick dust:

This step is for homemakers living in dust-prone regions.

I find quick dusting helpful because when I clean it daily, it’s just a single swipe job.

You just sweep/brush; run duster or microfibre cloth once over the surfaces and things and you are all done.

Most of the time you don’t even need a cleaner/solvent.

But when you plan to dust on weekends it becomes a full-blown event.

    TIME: 2 MINUTE EACH ROOM

    Sweep floors:

Speedy sweeps across the busy places in your home make your home look so much nicer.

I prefer to sweep (and mop) in the morning post-pickup. This lets you start your mornings fresh and eliminates constant nagging (all day) that your house is a mess.

    TIME: 5 MINUTES

    Tackle laundry:

Although laundry isn’t necessarily a part of this cleaning routine, keeping on top of it can help control the overall functionality of your home.

No matter how well you keep your home if clothes are sitting around they will surely clutter up the space.

Just 2 steps of throwing load into the washer and putting away fresh clothes make a big difference.

    TIME: 5 MINUTES

    Swish and swipe bathroom:

Nobody likes to use a dirty bathroom. Not even kids. They notice grime too.

As I keep saying, you can maintain a guest-ready bathroom spending less than 5 minutes daily.
Find out more about How To Keep Your Bathroom Clean In 5 Minutes A Day

    TIME: 5 MINUTES

This simple daily cleaning checklist will help you keep most of your home clean and tidy in no time.

Also, this quick and easy cleaning routine will ensure less frequent and painless deep cleaning sessions.

  • How To MAKE YOUR HOME BEAUTIFUL Without Money | DEVOTEE LIFE

How To MAKE YOUR HOME BEAUTIFUL Without Money | DEVOTEE LIFE

Well, I think a devotee’s home must be decent over fancy. If you agree, I have a few suggestions to make your home beautiful without money.

Have my word you’ll love the payoff.

The main purpose of a devotee’s life is to overcome materialism and lead a God-centered life. To move our focus from materialistic possessions towards spiritual life.

Even if you’re not a devotee, finding ways to make your home beautiful without money is a good call for the environment and your wallet.

Speaking of consumerism buying fancy, expensive home decor heads the list.

But I find neatness more appealing than fancy decor.

A devotee’s home is keen on serving the Lord. Hence it should be neat, clean, and presentable.

Despite spending a lot of time and money, we often don’t understand why our home doesn’t look or feel the way we want.

These points may help you get a better perspective and save time and money.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR HOME BEAUTIFUL WITHOUT MONEY

    1| Clean kitchen countertop:

Clean dishes drying on a rack. Empty sink. Clutter-free worktops make your kitchen look more beautiful than high-class decor.

Definitely give it a try and let me know how you feel.

For me, knick-knacks on the countertop add up to clutter.

    Instead, think outside.

Try to arrange kitchen tools and appliances in a way that makes them look good and doesn’t create visual clutter.

    2| Clutter-free open spaces:

The empty surfaces in our home do not necessarily mean storage spaces.

You left the spot empty for a reason.

Empty, open spaces provide breathing room to the eyes and calmness to the mind.

They strike a balance in your home interior, making it more relaxing.

This time try not to stuff every open space with something. Keep them empty and enjoy the aesthetic look.

    3| A picked-up living room (temple hall):

After shringar sewa, bhog sewa our next responsibility must be to keep the living room (temple hall) neat and tidy.

Picking up the room, dusting, sweeping-mopping are highly recommended.

We need to make sure that the environment in our temple hall is calm and peaceful.

The above-mentioned tasks are sufficient enough to make your living area look beautiful. No need for expensive stuff.

    4| Minimal decorations:

Since we have lots and lots of household duties (sevaen) it is advisable to have minimal stuff in your house. So it’s easier to care for.

Unwanted furniture, clothes, and belongings create chaos in our lives. It’s a sheer waste of time to care for unwanted items.

Purging unwanted items from time to time is essential.

Fewer distractions means plenty of time for sewa.

You can utilise the extra time for Sadhana.

    5| Thorough dry bathroom:

If you can only give your bathroom 1 minute daily, I suggest wiping it dry.

A dry bathroom looks way cleaner than a damp one no matter how clean it is.

    Try it for yourself.

Wipe down the sink area and walls with a dry cloth. And floor with a wiper. That’s all you have to do.

And if you can spare another 30 seconds to put things back in the cabinets.

Now relax, you’re fixed for a surprise drop-by.

    6| Good ventilation:

Moisture can get trapped in the home and foster mold growth. Whether it’s your kitchen, bathroom, living room, or bedroom.

    Airing out eliminates indoor pollutants.

It removes airborne contaminants and promotes fresh air.

Optimal air quality is great for both physical and emotional well-being.

It provides a positive atmosphere and makes your home feel beautiful.

7| Decor pieces that come from nature:

Another way to set out a serene, cozy ambiance in your home is by bringing the outdoors inside.

    Think air, water, earth, fire.

Natural components like seashells, flowers, leaves, fruits, pebbles, rocks, stones, water fountains, sunshine, and fresh air.

    8| Repurposed/DIY storage items:

Give your home that unique touch and personalized accent by finding new uses for old stuff in your home.

Creating new things out of something old is a nice way to practice resourcefulness and minimize waste.

With little creativity and thinking out of the box you can own exclusive storage items — furniture, gift/toy boxes, cartons, and so much more.

You can revamp your space into a peaceful sanctuary with a fresh outlook.

    9| Set bed:

The bed is the heart of your bedroom.

You feel gentle and nice when your bed looks, feels, and smells fresh.

Your family can relax and feel refreshed.

Folding blankets, straightening pillows and tucking sheets nicely are all you have to do to make your room more restful.

    10| Soil-free entryway:

Nothing feels bad like a muddy entryway especially for kids or husband coming home after a long day.

Having a designated place for shoes, quick sweep/spot mop (if you’re pressed for time) can make all the difference.

    Final Words:

Many times, maintaining stuff you already have and keeping it clean and organized is all you need to make your home look beautiful.

On the other hand, if you buy expensive stuff but fail to keep it clean and organized your house will look cluttered and messy.

10 Top TIME-MANAGEMENT Tips For Homemakers

Effective time management can help you succeed in life.

We all know the importance of time in our lives.

Thus, mastering your time and using it productively is essential, especially for homemakers.

Throughout the day you strive to make time for important household duties. But you hardly find enough time. Which makes you feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious.

That said, managing your time effectively can help you accomplish considerable work. And also make time for things you love.

Constructive time management is when you make fruitful use of your time. And get your key tasks done. It means having ample time for yourself and your family.

10 Top TIME-MANAGEMENT Tips For Homemakers

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #1 Ditch Perfection:

As a homemaker, you must let go of perfection if you don’t want to hamper your progress/success.

Perfectionism is nothing but constantly being under pressure to perform in excellent condition.

Studies show perfectionism can be damaging to your health since it is linked with stress, depression, and anxiety.

Many times, perfection is about unrealistic high standards or extreme goals.

It is going to take you nowhere. Because perfection doesn’t necessarily mean we’re improving at something.

I see it as a trap that hinders your potential to begin work.

Ever since I allowed myself to be an imperfect homemaker and embrace good enough results, I saw myself thrive in homemaking. My house was reasonably clean, laundry was kept current, meals were prepared timely, and things were in place. I was fairly satisfied.

So I think the first obstacle you should address and conquer for everything to fall in place is ditch perfectionism.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #2 Be an early riser:

Waking up early may sound like a drudgery but it’s a practice worth developing.

Along with the numerous physical and mental benefits of waking up early, it provides additional hours to plan your day and be efficient with your time.

It is a good chance for homemakers to quit the daily mad rush; relax; plan/organize their day; and have some alone time for themselves when they can engage in hobbies, incorporate exercise, learn new skills, meditate, or simply enjoy interrupted time.

My own experience of rising early is you have more energy throughout the day. You start your day more calmly.

Last but important you feel happy because you accomplish more in your day. Also, you’re right on schedule.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #3 Sound systems and routines:

Routines and systems are crucial to lead a meaningful life since they’re action-oriented.

They tell you what to do after you wake up from sleep.

Routines empower you to be productive and in control of your day.

Good systems and routines eliminate the need to plan and make small daily decisions.

Especially in the case of cleaning.

Having a cleaning chart/checklist of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks is convenient.

Don’t let the laundry or dishes pile up. Put things back where they belong immediately after use. Place trash bins in high-traffic areas. Encourage your family members to use it.

Include at least one cleaning or organizational project in your daily routine.

    TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #4 Plan:

To excel in homemaking you need to set some goals. Of course small, achievable goals.

Planning is the gateway to attaining those goals.

Planning turns missions into action-oriented tasks.

It ensures focus, leaving no possibility for distraction.

A well-designed plan obliges decision-making and further motivates one to achieve goals.

When we pen down our goals and an action plan to accomplish those goals, it makes us understand our work better. Which further helps us do our job more effectively.

Planning can help you work smarter, not harder.

    TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #5 Prioritize:

Prioritizing means organizing our action plan to determine the urgency or seriousness of the tasks.

It helps to stay focused on the most important work.

Being aware of the priorities helps you reduce stress and improve productivity.

These days our overloaded to-do lists can be overwhelming.

Prioritizing can help curb your to-do list and put your workload in order.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #6 Stop procrastination:

Count me in. In fact, we all procrastinate somewhere along the line.

The first step to overcoming procrastination is realizing you’re procrastinating if you want to manage your time well.

If you ditch perfection, plan, and prioritize your day without fail, you won’t procrastinate because most of your work is already done.

Break bigger tasks into bite-size chunks as much as you can.

Start small with 1-minute or 2-minute tasks.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #7 Streamline beauty routine:

With the rising beauty norms, things become a little difficult for us.

Hours fly following a fancy skincare routine, applying layers of makeup, and dressing up stylishly and we don’t even realize it.

If your beauty routine is really complicated and time-consuming it’s worth reconsidering.

If you can — try shampooing your hair the night before or in the evenings to avoid the morning rush. Shampooing, blow-drying, and hairdressing can be the biggest time-wasters.

Consider simplifying your morning skincare and makeup routine. Or schedule a detailed skincare routine at nighttime to manage your time well.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #8 Use downtime wisely:

    Clean as you go.

    Tidy as you go.

Prepare ahead as much as you can.

Straighten out your home maximum possible.

    Organize your life.

Those spare moments are golden pockets, make sure you never lose/miss them.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #9 Schedule breaks:

Taking a few breaks during the day enhances mood.

Missing out on breaks is the recipe for higher stress and exhaustion.

Scheduling breaks improves productivity and is great for your mental health and well-being.

It enhances focus and memory and provides a sense of gratification.

Breaks allow you to pause and relax. And restart fresh with renewed energy.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP # 10 Group similar tasks:

Batching similar tasks together eliminates sidetracking and saves you time and energy.

It ensures finishing tasks in less time.

Example: getting groceries, returning books to the library, getting dry cleaned clothes in one go.

Cleaning out your refrigerator before emptying your kitchen garbage bin.

    You get the point.

TIME MANAGEMENT TIP #11 Be self-reliant:

Delegate tasks but don’t rely on family members all the time.

Because many times it can cause disappointments. Instead of getting into the habit of getting help try to be self-reliant.

    Automate wherever you can.

I hope these tips help you save and manage your precious time better.

16 Incredible TIME-SAVING Tips For Homemakers

Homemaking is a high-power occupation. Just like any professional, homemakers need better time-management skills too. Today we’ll discuss some of the best time-saving tips for homemakers that will make your life easier.

    Time is a precious resource.

The only way to preserve it is to use it carefully.

Cleaning takes up a large chunk of a homemaker’s day-to-day life. So you must be careful that it doesn’t take up a (valuable hours) larger part of your day than what is required.

We all have the same 24 hours each day. Yet why do some people make the most of their time while others fail?

Today let’s talk about where the latter goes wrong. Here are a few time-saving tips to help you manage and master your time.

Homemaking seems dreadful in certain scenarios. First, when you lack homemaking skills, and second, time-management skills.

Earlier we discussed helpful homemaking skills that teach you how to accomplish your household tasks more efficiently and effectively.

Now let’s see some time management skills.

These tips save you time. And when something takes little time you feel motivated to get it done.

Before we start I suggest having a cleaning caddy or cleaning products handy to avoid moving back and forth to get your items which is a sheer waste of time.

16 INCREDIBLE TIME-SAVING TIPS FOR HOMEMAKERS

    1| Manage laundry:

    • Set a personalized/customized wash cycle on the washing machine. Use shorter cycles for daily-wear clothes, longer ones only when needed.
    • Wash white and dark clothes separately to save time.

    2| Utilize downtime smartly:

Use kids’ — nap time, bath time, or playtime to quickly get your basic (non-negotiable) chores done.

    3| Use a pressure cooker:

    It drastically reduces cooking time.

Although it cannot match the taste of slow cooking. But it’ll definitely save you time in the kitchen.

Bonus the food cooks really well in a pressure cooker.

4| Detailed as well as short routines:

A detailed routine for when you want to take things slow and engage in cleaning. This doesn’t necessarily mean deep cleaning but a little more (attention) than your daily rush routines.

Shorter cleaning routines for when you’re pressed for time. They’re usually helpful and best for daily cleaning.

Neglecting daily cleaning means getting to the point where things become so bad that even the simplest tasks seem daunting.

As a result, putting more hours into cleaning.

Divide the cleaning tasks into morning, afternoon/evening, or nightly routines. So cleaning doesn’t feel burdensome.

    5| Make beds and couches:

I know. You’re sick of the same repeated tip.

But hear me out once again.

After making your bed, straighten up the sofa/couch when you come to the living room first in the morning (if you haven’t done so already the night before).

This one step will instantly make your whole living room appear so neat.

6| Give floors no more than 10 minutes a day:

Restrict the floor cleaning to 10 minutes only maximum. So you stay focused and don’t spend a lot of time pointlessly.

If you clean your floor regularly, it could take even less than 10 minutes a day.

Additionally, when you realize just by spending 10 minutes daily you can make your entire house look cleaner, you’ll hardly neglect this task again.

7| Prepare ahead as much as you can

Preparing ahead reduces chaos by avoiding last-minute panic, decision-making, and rush to finish tasks.

It helps you stay focused and lowers the risk of procrastination since a major part of your work is already done.

    8| Cover appliances:

To prevent dust accumulation, and spend less time cleaning.

Using appliance covers not only protects them from grime, grease, and moisture but also provides protection to your kids.

    9| Keep a notebook:

Note down even the smallest tasks. So you don’t forget them.

Always keep a record of what worked and what didn’t work for you. Example: tips & tricks that worked for you.

    10| Time-saving Kitchen cleaning tips:

    • Make a habit of rinsing the dishes before putting them in the sink.
    • Easy way to keep your kitchen from getting out of control— keep putting things back in their places, wiping the countertops with dry cloth (dry dusting) & washing the utensils as you go.
    • Cook time is the best time to get things done and not even realize how much you got done. I don’t know why but I get supercharged during my cooking time and run around like a crazy person to get as many things done in that short time. Keep moving around and see what all you can get done within your cook time and you’ll be relaxed afterwards. Maybe tidy up the countertop, wash dishes, or clean up a drawer during this waiting period.

    11| Multi-tasking:

Start a load of laundry when you begin preparing your meals and use cook time (cooking downtime) to dust off the living room/bedroom/kitchen or clear off a hotspot.
Doing this will be a great use of your cooking time. It’s multitasking in a stress-free way.

Use the timer method for most tasks so that you stay focused & get it done faster.

Use a 5-minute timer method for each room to get it back in order every night before hitting the bed.

    12| Miscellaneous time-saving cleaning tips:

    • Clean and arrange immediately
    • less product drastically reduced the cleaning time in half.
    • do a little bit— something is always better than nothing—start small — baby steps are the key. When nothing is possible do at least something/do a little bit.
    • Keep preparing & getting things done. Utilize those teeny-tiny spare moments (1/2/5 minutes) to get things done. Always be on a hunt to see what you can get done in those teeny-tiny moments. You’ll be so relieved in the end. Get as much done as you can ahead of time.
    • Work speedily.

13| Set time for every work:

Be sure how much time you have. What you want to do first, and what next & likewise.

Set a time limit for every task.

Like wrap up the kitchen or the kitchen lights should go off before 8 p.m. Finish your morning routine by 8 a.m. or finish preparing your dinner by 5 p.m.

14| No more bathroom deep cleaning:

Clean at least 1 major part or combine 2 to 3 tiny tasks to keep the bathroom clean.

If you do the above part you’ll never have to deep clean your bathroom.

But yes you need to practice the tip religiously.

    15| Reverse meal planning:

If you find meal planning boring and time-consuming, maybe reverse meal planning is for you.

So you create a table for 30-31 days. And every night you fill that table mentioning what breakfast, lunch, or dinner you made that day.

So by the end of the month, you have a readymade meal plan for the next 30 days which you can move around and swap a little bit.

Bonus, most meals would be your family’s favorite.

    16| Efficient cleaning tools:

Not exactly expensive tools but functional for sure. Tools that make your life easier.

Good cleaning tools provide efficiency. They ensure less physical effort on your part.

Those were some time-saving tips for homemakers. I hope you find them useful.

  • Quick Daily Cleaning Routine

    Quick Daily Cleaning Routine

Establishing a daily cleaning routine means getting into the habit of cleaning.

It means cultivating a mindset of living in a clean home.

An effective daily cleaning reduces chaos, eliminates day-to-day stress, and provides a healthy environment.

It ensures order and peace in your home.

Forming a daily cleaning habit is super easy.

It’s just like developing a new habit.

The more you practice the better you get.

    Repetition is the key.

Routines allow you to do that on autopilot.

With practice, you develop speed and get faster.

After a time, you won’t even notice that you accomplished so much in a flash.

Considering that you have a lot on your plate, we will try to keep the daily cleaning routine easily achievable.

Precisely, we will keep our daily cleaning routine short and quick.

That means not more than 3 tasks per day.

I want to clarify that we’re focusing on everyday cleaning only.

This is going to be your daily cleaning routine.

You can take it further and add your weekly/monthly tasks. (More on that soon in another post)

The idea is to get the most crucial tasks done for the day so your house runs smoothly.

A shorter routine means you feel motivated to keep at it.

Even the smallest tasks have a bigger impact. Following this routine, your home will feel like a better place. And everyone in your home can relax and operate effortlessly.

    QUICK DAILY CLEANING ROUTINE

    10-minute Kitchen Cleanup:

They say “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. I would say the same goes for other family members too.

But if you’re kitchen is a super mess it’s hard to cook even the basic meal.

A clean kitchen provides a healthy, hygienic, and safe environment for your family.

That said, kitchen clean-up always sounds like a dreadful task.

    Honestly, it isn’t.

Yes, even the busiest and messier area like the kitchen doesn’t need a lot of labor unless you do a little bit to keep it in a condition where you find it good enough to work.

I wrote this article where I talk about how to keep your kitchen clean in 10 minutes or less! in details.

I’m sure even beginners starting their journey toward having a clean and organized home would find it helpful.

    Simple things like

    • putting things away after use
    • loading/unloading the dishwasher
    • handwashing the dishes
    • quickly wiping down the stove, countertops, and appliances
    • sweep/spot mopping the floor
    • emptying trash

    make such a difference.

    One load of laundry:

To avoid mountains of laundry lying on a chair/couch/floor it’s better to tackle one load daily.

If laundry appears like a never-ending chore some sort of system becomes necessary.

My trusted way is doing one load (washing, drying, folding, putting away) each day. Some days maybe a couple more times.

But yes one load a day works for us (husband and I).

If you are a large family, tackling one load daily would help prevent chaos.

Since there are mixed views on this topic, if you hate laundry to be a part of your daily routine, you can find a system that works for you. And swap this chore for another non-negotiable cleaning task.

But if you haven’t tried it already. I highly recommend doing one load daily for some days to know the difference.

    10-minute Rooms set up:

Anyone can hardly relax in a cluttered space.

A messy home usually makes you overwhelmed. You encounter difficulties carrying out your day-to-day tasks.

You can struggle to do the simplest things like getting ready for the day, sending kids to school, or comforting your husband after a long day at work.

Most of us may not realize but dedicating a few minutes to set up rooms (main living areas) is such a simple but powerful way to (instantly) improve the condition of your home.

Tidying up a little bit can largely prevent sickness caused by dust, bacteria, and molds.

    The little things like

    • making beds
    • putting kids’ toys back in their baskets
    • putting dirty laundry in the hamper/hanging clothes
    • Restoring shoes back
    • Straightening up the key areas
    • wiping down surfaces
    • swishing and swiping the bathroom
    • Vacuuming busy areas
    • Dumping mails and magazines in a basket
    • spot mopping

can help bring back order to your home. You’ll sense control over your environment. Your home will appear neat and tidy.

    Final Words:

Now you know you can keep your home reasonably clean and tidy with little effort and spending a few moments (15-20 minutes) daily.

One thing for sure is that this short and quick daily cleaning routine will bring your home to a level where you have fewer occasions and tasks for deep cleaning.

I hope this simple and quick daily cleaning routine lowers your pressure and allows you to enjoy your home and life more.

  • 10 Tips To Keep Your Home CLEAN And ORGANIZED

10 Tips To Keep Your Home CLEAN And ORGANIZED

Overwhelmed by a messy, cluttered home? The secret to keeping your home clean & organized all the time is doing a little bit of cleaning and tidying up more often.

    Consistency is key.

Cleaning and organizing the house is not as scary as it seems.

What is dreadful is improperly performing the tasks. Since inaccurate methods can only make cleaning or tidying jobs — lengthy, laborious, difficult, and time-consuming.

For me, cleaning is fun when it is short and sweet. Meaning, that it takes less time and minimal effort.

I love dusting when everything gets clean in just one swipe; washing a few dishes; doing a small load of laundry; and mopping floors without special efforts to scrub dried-up spots and spills.

Because, then it’s easier to clean and takes little time.

How do you get to this point? By doing things regularly.

Today I’m sharing the top 10 habits that help me keep my home clean and organized (all the time).

These powerful habits have worked wonders for me. They have made cleaning and tidying the home a breeze.

I practice these tips and tricks daily so it never gets to the point when my home desperately needs cleaning or deep cleaning.

10 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR HOME CLEAN AND ORGANIZED ALL THE TIME

1| Declutter every now and then:

Whether you notice or not cluttered, unorganized spaces cause a lot of stress and anxiety.

Decluttering is a powerful habit that provides clarity.

Including the many health benefits decluttering is great for your mental health.

Decluttering from time to time essentially reduces chaos and frees up physical space.

It allows better organization and brings peace.

    Decluttering increases productivity.

Decluttering may seem daunting in the beginning or after a prolonged time. But when you get started, set attainable goals, and keep at it every so often it is rewarding.

Purging unnecessary items once or twice a month for 15-20 minutes is a good place to start.

2| Do one load of laundry:

Doing at least one load of laundry daily is a wise thing to do to prevent mountains of dirty washing.

If not more, washing daily wear, underwear, activewear, socks, towels, and dish towels can make a huge difference. It is not advisable to keep sweaty, stinky, stained clothes for a longer time.

It takes 5-10 minutes to sort clothes, wash, dry, fold, and put away but it makes a considerable difference.

    3| Make beds:

I love to straighten up my bed foremost every morning.

In India, we are taught this in childhood. So it’s a deeply ingrained habit.

Making bed first thing in the morning provides a sense of accomplishment. It sets you up in the right mindset.

It not only promotes cleanliness but also enhances mood and productivity.

    4| Tidy up entryway:

The entryway is the first impression of your place and so it shouldn’t be neglected.

This super simple task takes as little as 2 minutes but can make your home look neat and clean.

The simple action of getting rid of unwanted stuff, wiping down surfaces, having a good storage system, and setting up some rules for people in your family can make all the difference.

    5| 10-minute kitchen clean up:

Honestly, if you determine you can finish your daily kitchen clean-up in under 10 minutes.

    Yes, you heard it right.

Putting things away once you finish cooking, wiping spills and spots, wiping down surfaces and appliances, loading/unloading the dishwasher, and shining your sink can be done in a bit.

If you set the timer every night and move around quickly, you can get your kitchen back in order in minutes.

    6| Speed dust one area:

Dusting was a pain for me before I discovered how to speed dust.

With the right tools and methods, you can master speed dusting.

You just need appropriate cleaning tools and solutions (all-purpose cleaners).

If you want to speed dust you have to do it daily or on alternate days depending on the situation.

Check out my earlier article to learn the easiest way to speed dust your home.

    7| Vacuum key areas:

Vacuuming is important in maintaining a clean and inviting place.

With tons of germs, skin cells, hair, food particles, and dirt accumulating vacuuming high-traffic areas often becomes crucial from a health point of view. Neglecting this important cleaning step can cause a foul odor.

The rooms you tend to spend more time in — living room, bedroom, kitchen, and dining area should be vacuumed regularly.

Again if you’re doing it frequently it won’t take you more than 5 minutes.

    8| Tidy up the bathroom:

Bathroom cleaning is an annoying task for many of us.

Because of its moisture content, it is the complete spot for bacterial growth and is considered the dirtiest place.

Since deep cleaning isn’t possible daily tidying up a little bit helps to keep it fresh, clean, and germ-free.

The chances of having molds and mildew (harmful to health) are higher when there is a longer gap between deep cleaning.

Daily swishing and swiping your bathroom ensures a lower risk of infections and sickness.

    9| Empty trash:

Garbage left for longer decomposes and causes harm. It is a breeding ground for bacteria.

A 1-2 minute task of emptying the trash regularly is essential to keeping a clean and healthy environment.

Doing this removes all the nasty odors in your home, prevents insects/pests, and keeps it smelling fresh.

    10| Neaten one trouble zone:

Zone cleaning for a few minutes a day can be life-saving.

It is important to keep your home clean and organized all the time.

Many trouble areas in our home need special attention.

When we cannot set up good storage solutions, certain areas in our homes get out of control. And over time they become a trouble zone.

Devoting just 5-10 minutes a day can help transform the place.

Set the timer for 5-10 minutes. Tackle one small area at a time or divide bigger tasks into little parts so that it’s easier for you.

    Final words:

With these simple steps, you can keep your home clean and organized all the time.

What I have learned through years of experience is that —  when you carry out the same tasks regularly, over and over again they become a breeze.

Because when you clean an already clean space you don’t need to clean it you just have to MAINTAIN it. Maintenance is always much easier than cleaning/deep cleaning.

    Focus on rhythm (regularity).

So to keep your home clean and organized (all the time) you must focus on repetition rather than heavy labor.

Even if you’re a beginner, I suggest following these tips and tricks. Don’t go all out. Start small. Begin with these steps and get your home in order first then tackle big projects.

Be sure to share your tips and tricks in the comments section below. Thank you so much for reading. Happy Cleaning!
